Sustainability at Fotoworks
At Fotoworks, sustainability isn’t a checkbox — it’s a commitment woven into how we operate, how we care for our community, and the impact we aim to make for future generations. As a proudly Western Australian business working with schools across the State, we’re dedicated to continuous improvement and responsible practices that support a healthier planet and stronger communities.
Planet. People. Purpose.
Our Vision
Our vision for sustainability is grounded in responsible business practices and continuous improvement:
- Energy Efficiency Reducing consumption and improving how we use energy.
- Waste Reduction & Circularity Eliminating single-use plastics, reducing waste and repurposing materials.
- Transport & Logistics Managing emissions across our travel-intensive work throughout WA.
- Research & Development Exploring new materials, technologies and processes.
- Operational Efficiency Streamlining workflows to minimise waste and improve quality.

What We’ve Achieved So Far
Reducing Energy Use
We upgraded to LED lighting, added motion sensors and encouraged simple daily energy-saving habits — contributing to a 30% reduction in our annual electricity consumption.
Cutting Waste
We build everyday habits around reducing, reusing, and recycling. Our recyclable packaging keeps your memories safe and plastic out of landfill, and we give many of our materials a second life in the community through recycling and donation programs. We are continuously reducing the amount of paper used throughout our operations by digitising and streamlining processes.
Joining Forces for Decarbonisation
Fotoworks is a member of CitySwitch, a decarbonisation program run by local councils and NABERS offering support, resources, and connections to other like-minded businesses on the pathway to achieving net zero emissions. In 2025 we were named CitySwitch Champions in recognition of our efforts in greening our supply chain, with the support of the program’s resources.
Plant-a-Tree Program
Our tree planting initiative was launched in 2025, where we began offering to plant trees on behalf of schools who partner with us. This initiative supports the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor project in the northern wheatbelt of Western Australia. Want us to plant trees for your school? Get in touch!
